1. Anonymous asked: Where do you get frames for the 27x41 posters that you get? I have several original prints and one sheets, but I'm having a hell of a time finding frames with that extra inch.

My dad makes most of the frames for my 27x41 inch one sheets - I’m lucky! I have paid to get a few framed but it’s so stupidly expensive. Some of the less costly posters I have are just in 27x40 frames and folded because I’m cheap as hell!

  2. “Thrills, Chills, and Boobs”

I bought all these Elvira mags as a lot on Ebay. They keep falling off my movie room wall, but I don’t know how else to display them. I love Elvira. So much. I have two Elvira big boxes, t-shirts, bootlegs of her hosting Halloween specials on MTV, and a six foot stand up. I really like a lot of horror hosts, but I remember watching her when I was little and thinking she was funny and insane (two of my favorite character traits). She is my default Halloween costume:

  4. Junk shop finds

I can’t stand passing up a Goosebumps book. I don’t remember Revenge of the Lawn Gnomes, but I’m sure it is rad. I haven’t read Altered States before, so maybe I’ll do that if I can ever stop watching X-Files episodes.

These Goosebumps “Spooky Speakerz” (…really?) were at a junk store in some small town in central Illinois. I hate that they wrote on the package, but I guess not everyone thinks shitty Goosebumps memorabilia is collectible. Fifty cents each!

  5. Recent purchases

All of these DVDs were $2 each at a video store going out of business in some BFE town in Pennsylvania. I went nuts. I bought movies I didn’t even care about just because they were two dollars. A few of these are released as that Euroshock Horror Collection, which normally I wouldn’t give a shit about but like I’m going to leave anything behind when it costs two bucks.

Pretty psyched on finding Sweet Sixteen for so cheap. I already watched Teeenage Space Vampires and it wasn’t too bad. However, I like stupid teen horror comedies, so…

  6. I have a Family Video problem. The problem is that I get lured in by the cheap DVD prices and end up buying bullshit just because I can get, like, four movies for twenty bucks. Unfortunately, I bought Clown Hunt (why?!??), Blubberella (an Uwe Boll movie…), and Muckman (based on cover alone) at Family Video recently. They all suck. Unwatchable.

The rest of the DVDs were also purchased secondhand, but at least they’re all good with the exception of Kaw. I’m watching that right now and it’s not awful, but I feel like I only think that because I kind of have a soft spot for stupid bird-themed horror movies. Mennonites feature prominently in Kaw. Weird.

  8. Cheap titles

I can’t say no to $1 tapes. I have at least three copies of Brain Damage now.

  9. I picked up 20+ tapes over the past week. Nothing exceptional here except for THE DUNGEONMASTER. They had me at, “futuristic thriller about an evil wizard…” This is an Empire Pictures production which is Charles Band’s pre-Full Moon outfit. It looks awesome.

  10. Goosebumps additions

How awesome was/is Goosebumps? I have the ringtone on my phone, I have a ton of DVDs, I have a Horrorland tote bag, and now I have these two additions. I stupidly passed up The Haunted Mask on VHS last week at a junk shop.

  11. The Monster Times

According to my five minute internet research, The Monster Times ran from 1972 to 1976 and put out 48 issues. These three were at a comic shop near my hometown. After flipping through them today, I have to go back and get the other four or five that were for sale.

Each issue has a centerfold poster and they are totally frame-worthy (I need a bigger house). The ads are awesome and the articles are hilarious and fun to read. I enjoy Rue Morgue and Fangoria as much as the next person, but these mags are far more up my alley - much more Famous Monsters of Filmland. I want them all.

  12. pezcookie asked: Where did you get the Sleepaway Camp print? I would love to have one as well

You can get one at www.thegrind-house.com! I have Re-Animator and TCM shirts from there as well. Now that I’m reminded of this site, I remember that I wanted the Mutilator shirt they have too!

  13. Anonymous asked: What exactly is your favourite type of horror movie? Slasher, psychological, monster...? And have you ever written your own horror movie script or horror story? If you have, I'd love to hear it.

My favorite types of horror movies are just good old 80s slashers. I grew up watching those and they will forever be my favorites because apparently nostalgia is very important to me! I am watching Maniac Cop as I type this.

When I was a kid, my dad and I would rent tons of tapes on Friday nights to last us through the weekend. He loves creature features, so I also watched lots of those growing up. I dig monster movies almost as much as corny slashers.

I’ll watch new horror, and even enjoy a lot of it, but my favorite periods for the genre are the 1950s and mid-late 70s through 80s.

I used to write horror stories all the time when I was little, but then I became a shitty teenager and was too cool to do things like use my brain creatively. Now, I am a scientist of sorts, so I kind of lost my drive to write creatively. My dad and I always talk about scripts we’d write, but we never write anything down! Right now we are working on one (verbally only, haha) inspired by a creepy guy my dad works with. We also used to write episodes that we’d like to have seen on the X-Files.

    Thanks for your question!

  14. This VHS tape deserves its own post.

Adventures in Dinosaur City (1991): There is no possible way this is a bad movie. The back cover bills it as an “evolutionary escapade.” That really appeals to the anthropologist in me. Also, Omri Katz is in this playing more or less the same kid he played in Eerie, Indiana.

  15. VHS Collection, Pt. 2

Demon Wind (1990): This is a supernatural piece of shit (I say that in an endearing way) with the one of the best tag lines maybe ever. “Now you see it. Now you don’t. Now you’re dead.” ????? Come on! They’re not even trying here! The front also says, “There’s something deadly in the air.” Witty.

Filmhouse Fever (1986): This is a compilation of the “worst” in horror, sci fi, and adventure. Mmmhmm, I’ll be the judge of that. I love clip movies like this, especially since they always have some lame host or recurring comedy bit uniting the clips. I mean, I know Elvira and Joe Bob and Rhonda Shear can’t host everything, but I want them to. Preferably together. This is also Vestron Video (!!!).

Land of the Minotaur (1986): Interglobal Video always had the worst cover art, but I dig this one. It’s less simplistic than most of their others. I will watch any human-beast hybrid movie ever, from fifties right on up to SyFy originals. This also stars Peter Cushing and Donald Pleasance in roles that I’m sure they’re very proud of.
